Pembina West Co-op Liquor Store opened its doors in Barrhead on April 26th, 2018, but it is just one part of your local co-operative association, Pembina West Co-op, a co-operative with a long history, serving the Barrhead community since 1944 and Mayerthorpe since 1941. 

A Co-op is a different kind of business, a business owned by its customers and neighbours. 

Membership in the Co-op isn’t joining a loyalty program, it’s ownership. Pembina West Co-op member-owners earn a share of our profits based on their purchases, and have their say in electing our Board of Directors each year at our Annual General Meeting. Because we’re member owned, our profits stay in the community, where they truly make a difference for the entire community. 

We’ve been a part of the Barrhead community since 1944. As part of our commitment to the community, we support many local events, charitable groups, sports and service groups. Our co-operative employs approximately 230 people in our local communities, building careers and supporting these local families. Pembina West Co-op is also proud to support the community through the sale of local products, including many right here in our liquor store.
